The Airlie Beach Race Week 2024 and Whitsunday Festival of Sailing (ABRW) is recognised Australia-wide as a fun, fast and competitive week of action and entertainment set to the backdrop of the spectacular Whitsunday coast and islands.

The event is styled in keeping with the relaxed holiday atmosphere of the Whitsundays, mixing six days of offshore yacht racing with seven nights of socialising and entertainment.

In 2024 the onshore Whitsundays Festival of Sailing will include free, live music and food stalls every afternoon, as well as evenings under the marquee on the lawn at the Whitsunday Sailing Club.

According to Whitsunday Sailing Club President Terry Archer,  “the on-shore the aim is to engage and entertain Race Week competitors, their supporters, locals from across the Region and visitors from all over Australia and overseas.

“Last year we had over 6000 attendees over the week and 2024 promises to attract even more race entrants and visitors to the event.

“An official spectator craft is also available courtesy of Ocean Dynamics so that anyone can be part of the action and watch the sailing up close. More details will be published closer to the race commencement so keep an eye out for this”

Whitsunday Sailing Club

Whitsunday Sailing Club, host of Airlie Beach Race Week, is situated on Airlie Point in Airlie Beach, the gateway to the beautiful Whitsunday islands and is known as a favourite stopping point for cruising yachties and tourists.

Whitsunday Sailing Club is renowned for its waterfront balcony and it features a bar, boatramp, pontoon and its own marina arm at Port of Airlie marina.

Though the club isn’t just for sailors, the sport plays an important role and remains at the heart of the facility with Whitsunday Sailing Club the proud host of Airlie Beach Race Week and the Great Whitsunday Fun Race.

Racing also includes offshore competitions in the bay or around the islands, dinghy racing and Wednesday twilight races. Visitors are welcome anytime, particularly from yacht clubs around the world. We encourage everyone to become a club member to reap the benefits.

The Whitsunday Maritime Training Centre also operates from the club, offering a variety of marine training courses. And, the club’s Whitsunday Pavilion is the perfect location for any functions.
