The organising committee of the Airlie Beach Race Week have announced the dates for the 2024 regatta. After this year’s very light series, the organisers, the Whitsunday Sailing Club, are looking for better racing conditions for the next installation, which will be conducted from 8 – 15 August 2024.
Event chairman and Principal Race Officer, Ross Chisholm, said that the dates correspond to the traditional timing in the middle of August, maximising the best of the winter weather in the Whitsundays. We were very unlucky this year, with strong winds either side of the regatta, while a large high pressure system stalled over the continent during the 2023 regatta period.
The Notice of Race will be published early in 2024, with entries due thereafter.
Once again, competitors planning to compete in the 2024 regatta are advised to get in early, particularly berthing which can be difficult to source. The club recommends berthing inquiries to Port of Airlie Marina, Coral Sea Marina, or by contacting the club by email – berthing@whitsundaysailingclub.com.au
